In
December 2000 the Governor's Advisory Drought Planning Panel assembled
a Critical Water Shortage Contingency Plan to address the impacts
of critical water shortages in the near term. Following a recommendation
made in the Plan, California Rural Water Association (CRWA) and will
bring small water systems resources to help cope with water shortages.
CRWA will be developing a assessment and response plan guidebook to
assist small water systems in completing and implementing emergency/disaster
response plans, a series of training workshops on drought preparedness
as it pertains to small water systems, a resource library, presentations
on drought preparedness and emergency/disaster response plans for
the use of small water systems, providing technical assistance to
small water systems, and assisting in the preparation and completion
of emergency/disaster response plans to account for drought.
CRWA
is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit association of professionals and utilities
in the water and wastewater industry serving small communities. CRWA
exists to enhance the quality of life in small communities by providing,
training, technical assistance, and representation to public water
and wastewater utilities. CRWA is the California state affiliate of
the National Rural Water Association (NRWA), participating in all
of NRWA's programs and providing all of their benefits to California.
